Baba Toewyding / Baby Dedication:

We are available for Baby Dedications or Christenings.

Jesus says in Mark 10:14-16: “But when Jesus saw it, he was much displeased, and said unto them: Suffer the little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God. Verily I say unto you: Whosoever shall not receive the kingdom of God as a little child, he shall not enter therein.” And he took them up in his arms, put his hands upon them, and blessed them.

We do not baptize babies with water. We Dedicate them to God in Prayer by laying on of hands and anointing with oil. We believe there are no Biblical proof for Baptism of a Baby, only Baptism of a Believer, someone who has excepted Jesus Christ as their personal Lord & Savior.

We do apologise that we only have this available in Afrikaans for now.  English info will follow shortly

Matthew 19:13-15  The Little Children and Jesus

13 Then little children were brought to Jesus for him to place his hands on them and pray for them. But the disciples rebuked those who brought them.

14 Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”  15 When he had placed his hands on them, he went on from there.

Mark 10:13-16 MSG

(13)  The people brought children to Jesus, hoping he might touch them.

(14)  The disciples shooed them off. But Jesus was irate and let them know it: "Don't push these children away. Don't ever get between them and me. These children are at the very centre of life in the kingdom.

(15)  Mark this: Unless you accept God's kingdom in the simplicity of a child, you'll never get in."

(16)  Then, gathering the children up in his arms, he laid his hands of blessing on them.

Why laying on of hands ?

LAYING ON OF HANDS. Actions with the *hands were an important part of ancient religious ritual, e.g. in prayer (1 Ki. 8:54; 1 Tim. 2:8) and invocation of divine blessing (Lv. 9:22; Ecclus. 50:20; Lk. 24:50). Jacob blessed the sons of Joseph by laying his hands upon their heads (Gn. 48:8-20), and Jesus similarly blessed children brought to him (Mk. 10:16; Mt. 19:13-15; cf. SB, 1, pp. 807f.). Jesus also touched (e.g. Mk. 1:41; 7:33), or laid his hands on, the sick (Mk. 5:23; 6:5; 7:32; 8:23, 25; Mt.9:18; Lk.4:40; 5:13; 13:13), as did the apostles (Acts 9:12, 17; 28:8; Mk. 16:[18]; cf. 1 Qap Gen 20. 21, 28f. The action was symbolic of spiritual blessing flowing from one person to another (cf. Mk. 5:30).[1]

Why have a ceremony like this ??

Dedication of Children:

To introduce or dedicate a child to God is not a New Testament command, but a faith promise principle where the parents make certain promises to God about their children.

What does it mean to dedicate or introduce a child to God?

To introduce – The Greek word Paristemi has different meanings:

1. To put aside for God.

2. To make available to God.

3. To put next to / alongside God,

4. To dedicate to God.

Parents dedicated their children in obedience to the Law of Moses to God. With this step of obedience they said to God:

• Heavenly Father, we bring this child whom you have given to us as a gift to you to make him / her available to You. Lord use this child to your honor and your Kingdom

• We as Parents come today to make a promise to you in front of these witnesses.

We promise the following:

1. We will bring this child up in Your ways and your commandments.

2. We will be an example to this child through our way we live, act, talk.

3. We will help this child to discover and reach his / her gifts and talents and unrestricted potential in God and we will raise this child in it.

(Prov. 22:6 Amplified Bible: “Train up a child in the way he should go (and in keeping with his individual gift or bent) and when he is old he will not depart from it.)”

“Bent” – speaks of personal inclination or aptitude. I help my child to discover his / her natural abilities or qualities and then raise him / her in it.  NB. I do not force my child to do and become what I so badly wanted to to in life, because God makes every person unique and special. If I force my child to become something I only prepare him / her for a spirit of rebellion and rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft.

1 Samuel 15:23 KJV

(23)  For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.

1 Samuel 15:23 MSG

(23)  Not doing what GOD tells you is far worse than fooling around in the occult. Getting self-important around GOD is far worse than making deals with your dead ancestors. Because you said No to GOD's command, he says No to your kingship.

Psalms 139:13-17 KJV

(13)  For thou hast possessed my reins: thou hast covered me in my mother's womb.

(14)  I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

(15)  My substance was not hid from thee, when I was made in secret, and curiously wrought in the lowest parts of the earth.

(16)  Thine eyes did see my substance, yet being unperfect; and in thy book all my members were written, which in continuance were fashioned, when as yet there was none of them.

(17)  How precious also are thy thoughts unto me, O God! how great is the sum of them!

Psalms 139:13-17 MSG

(13)  Oh yes, you shaped me first inside, then out; you formed me in my mother's womb.

(14)  I thank you, High God--you're breathtaking! Body and soul, I am marvellously made! I worship in adoration--what a creation!

(15)  You know me inside and out, you know every bone in my body; You know exactly how I was made, bit by bit, how I was sculpted from nothing into something.

(16)  Like an open book, you watched me grow from conception to birth; all the stages of my life were spread out before you, The days of my life all prepared before I'd even lived one day.

(17)  Your thoughts--how rare, how beautiful! God, I'll never comprehend them!

Our prayer is as follows: Lord we ask that you give us wisdom, insight and patience to fulfill these promises with the power in guidance of Your Holy Spirit.

Psa 127:1  If the LORD does not build the house, it is useless for the builders to work on it. If the LORD does not protect a city, it is useless for the guard to stay alert.

Psa 127:2  It is useless to work hard for the food you eat by getting up early and going to bed late. The LORD gives food to those he loves while they sleep.

 The Message

Psa 127:1  If GOD doesn't build the house, the builders only build shacks. If GOD doesn't guard the city, the night watchman might as well nap.
